Daniel Chapter 9 - 100% Fulfilled

from a Historicist Perspective

By Bill Weather – Prophecy Base - Daniel 12

This meme below sums it up nicely, but some people need further explanation to some of it’s finer details, so here is where we will cover those, verse for verse. We start at Daniel 9:24

Seventy weeks 1 are determined upon thy people, upon thy holy city2, to finish the transgression3 and to make an end of sins4, and to make reconciliation for iniquity 5 and to bring in everlasting righteousness 6 and to seal up the vision & prophecy 7, to anoint the most holy 8.

1. 70 weeks – This is known as the famed 70 weeks of Daniel, or 70 weeks of years prophecy. All Historicists and Futurists use a day equaling a year in prophecy here. The word weeks in Hebrew here is “sevens” or 70 sevens and we know in a week is 7 days or 7 years, a day for each year. That makes 70 x 7 = 490 years. Almost all Historicists and Futurists agree Christ has fulfilled this up to the 69th weeks of years, 483 years. Where they differ is the 70th week. Historicists believe it’s all fulfilled, while Futurists believe the 70th week is sometime in the future. The meme below describes the details of its 100% fulfillment.

We Historicists believe a 1900+ year skip code used here by the Futurists is a fabrication. It does not go with the natural flow of what is described. If the 70th week was not fulfilled, then it cannot be called the “70th week” because it supposedly did not happen when it was foretold it would happen. We believe the following description is sufficient for the rest of the verse.

2. “are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city” – This tells us who and where, the Jews and Jerusalem, that the 70 weeks (490 years) were determined for.

3. “to finish the transgression” – This points to Christ fulfilling by his death and shed blood, finishing the transgressions of the people.

4,5 – “And to make and end of sins and to bring reconciliation for iniquity” – This seems obvious to us, that Christ died for our sin and has made reconciliation for us through his crucifixion. Those who spout this is yet to be fulfilled are saying when Christ comes, it will bring an end to sin. While Christ’s reign will certainly bring an end to sin reigning, it will not bring a total end to sin. For that to be, free will would need to be no more. We contend that Christ’s crucifixion has fulfilled this.

6. “to bring in everlasting righteousness” – Christ’s word is the everlasting righteous standard brought to us. We don’t need to wait 2000 years for it to be a future event. We are also made righteous thru his atoning death on the cross. It is an everlasting righteousness established.

7. “to seal up the vision and prophecy” – This would happen at the end of the 70th weeks prophesied. Simple, right? But Futurists insist this is some 2000 years into the future with some sort of skip coding.

8. “And to anoint the most holy” – Obvious. Jesus is the most holy.

This last description, to “anoint the most holy” comes after the others. We couldn’t do a 2000 year skip code on that and say Jesus has still yet to be anointed the most holy. It happened already.

Daniel 9:5 – Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be 7 weeks and 62 weeks: the street shall be built again and the wall, even in troublous times.

Some of us Historicists see this as the first, decree, the Cyrus Decree, while SDA groups maintain its the Artaxerxes decree. SDA groups are trying to merge the corrupted Persian BC year count built on Ptolemy into this, while I see it as the first decree of Cyrus, which I cover in the free chapters of my book at 6000thyear.com.

The 7 weeks and 62 weeks is broken up here, to prophesy it would take 7 weeks or seven sevens = 49 years to rebuild Jerusalem, then 62 more weeks unto the coming of Messiah, which was at Jesus’ baptism, not his crucifixion as some think. This was the start of his 3.5 year ministry here on earth.

Daniel 9:26 – After 62 weeks shall messiah be cut off, but not for himself. And the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood and to the end of the war, desolations are determined.

So we would look at sometime AFTER the 62 or 69 weeks, we should see Messiah cut off, meaning his crucifixion because he’s cut off for our sin, not for himself.

Then as a side note it describes the destruction of Jerusalem. Some people are thinking this is an antichrist to come, but it says “destroys the city and the sanctuary.” That is a well established fulfillment in prophecy, and it happened in 70 AD. It’s fulfilled. Any more looking to the future for this to fulfill is pure hyped up speculation.

Daniel 9:26 "and the people of the prince that shall come" is plural, but verse 27 is singular > "and HE shall confirm the covenant..." showing they are not talking about the same thing. Verse 27 would also have to be plural, but it's not, proving the Futurists wrong. V26b was just a side note. We use side notes all the time.

" I'm going to the store, and BTW, I'll fill the car with gas. Do you need anything?"

The side note "BTW, I'll fill the car with gas" is the same as v26b. It was just a side note to the main topic. V27 goes back to the singular, referring to what Christ was doing. An antichrist in v26b couldn't even apply in the first place, since it's not the prince (the AC) that shall come, but only his people, proving  the Futurist err in more ways than one in Daniel 9.

Daniel 9:27 - “And he shall confirm THE COVENANT with many for one week; and in the midst of the week, he shall cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease and for the overspreading of abominations, he shall make it desolate…”

The real ministry of Jesus was not just 3.5 years long, but was really 7 years long. He did not stop directly ministering to the brethren of the first church upon his crucifixion. The stoning of Stephen as the 1st martyr, and conversion of Paul the Apostle were major acts of Christ’s direct intervention during those years after his crucifixion. Upon the ending of the 70 weeks, is when the gospel began to then shift, from the Jews to the Gentiles. This was a major turning point in history. God has fulfilled all of the 70 weeks of Daniel through Christ.

It says in the midst of the week he would cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease. Upon Christ’s crucifixion, the sacrifices of the temple era ceased. God would no longer recognize any more temple sacrifices from the Jews. That ceased upon Christ’s sacrifice and it tells you when, “in the midst of the week”, that final 70th week.

We think it is silly for Futurists to apply this to a future Antichrist with using a 2000 year skip code. Notice KJV says “the covenant”, but more recent translations say “a covenant”. This is because they are pre programmed to write in the Futurist scenario. "The Covenant" was Christ confirming the new covenant in his blood.

Combine these two >  “after 62 weeks shall messiah be cut off” and “in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice… to cease." These confirm, that at that 69.5 week spot, Christ was crucified. Thus, disproving a end time 7 year tribulation scenario by the Futurists.

Sure, you could conjure from this a future 70th week, but that would violate several of the details given, for after the 69th week. Why would God thru Daniel here, prophecy just up to Jesus baptism, to the end of the 69th week and leave out one of the greatest events in all of history, Christ’s crucifixion? That makes no sense. In it’s natural state, counting the 70th week coming right after the 69th  week, makes sense because 69 comes after 70, duh. If it’s a 2000 year skip code of the Futurists, it would not be the 70th week, but be the 285th week >2000/7=285 so far. We find that silly and a subtraction to the glory of God shown in this prophecy.

We non SDA Historicists hope you can break free of the popular echo chamber that has so many Christians bound by the false end time prophecies and come to their senses, that in the real world, all is fulfilled into Revelation 16 and we are now awaiting WW3, Revelation 18, then soon after, the 6000thyear.com, the Resurrection of the redeemed. Halle Yahweh!!!
